2013 - 2014 Curriculum

We are going to spend the summer reviewing basic concepts and doing other fun activities. In July, I will be homeschooling a 9th grader, 6th grader, two 3rd graders, two 1st graders, and a preschooler. Normally I create our entire curriculum myself. However, due to homeschooling seven kids as well as being in college myself I no longer have the time to create it all. This year I will be using some online classes as well as pre-made curriculum.

Crystina will be my 9th grader. We are beginning to work on the high school transcript this year. For her courses she will be taking:

All of these except for the Driver's Education are free.

Carolyn will be my 6th grader. I could not find a math curriculum that I liked so for now, her math will be created by me. I will be using Easy Peasy for everything else. The Easy Peasy Math used Khan Academy which is Common Core aligned. I am against Common Core, so there's that. Otherwise, the rest will be from Easy Peasy.

Math (Designed by me)

Caitlyn and Charlotte

Caitlyn and Charlotte are my twin 3rd graders. Their curriculum will also be from Easy Peasy.

Cheyenne and Courtney

Cheyenne and Courtney are my twin 1st graders. Honestly, they lucked out. They learn so much just by watching and listening to the older ones. All of their curriculum will also be from Easy Peasy.

Connor is my 3 year old. I will be working on the Getting Ready 1 curriculum from Easy Peasy with him. This is actually for a 4 year old so I don't know how it's going to turn out.

I will be combining some of the younger kids for classes. For example, Ancient Art. Five of the kids are taking it, so it will all be done together. However, each child will do the assignments for their grade level. We are also doing smaller units on U.S. Geography and the U.S. Presidents.

I was skeptical when I first heard about Easy Peasy months ago. I never desired a "boxed curriculum". Hopefully I will be pleased with it because it sure is a time saver!

  1. Hello .. I'm glad that you mentioned that the easy peasy math is common core aligned. I found your blog through the easy peasy blog roll..and I am so excited to see how your year goes!

  2. I came over from the easy peasy blog roll. A lot of math materials are common core aligned however since I let my 12 year old work at his own pace (and combine with Life of Fred math) we still use Khan - Since it is not put into strict 'grades' it works great for us and it is hard to find a math program my 12 year old likes. Come over and check me out '' I am also on Facebook

    1. We also are against CC but still use Khan, same reason as you. :)

  3. Hi there! I came across your link over at Good Work Academy's Easy Peasy blogroll!

I have a 2 1/2 year old and she uses The program is for 2-7 year old's then there is also a Kinder program, and it's all free. Easy Peasy is too advanced for her right now. Just thought I would share :)

  4. Hi! I'm visiting from the Not Back to School hop! I clicked over because I saw your school name and figured you all may be from the same home state that our family lives in. :-) And I'm glad I visited. I'm trying to do school this year using what I have on hand and with very affordable (or even resources. I need a math for my k and 2nd graders, and I totally forgot about Easy Peasy! I will have to check it out! Thanks!
